Roll up to the drive-thru for slow-churned, creamy, frozen custard. You won’t have to roll too far, either — Andy’s has several locations across Collin County. Andy’s seasonal sundaes are super good. Try the roasted pecan topping!

Bourbon Vanilla Ice Cream Co.

Craving an ice cream play date with the kids? Head to the first floor of Legacy Food Hall in Plano. It serves sundaes, shakes, scoops, and spiked milkshakes. Then enjoy them outside in the box garden outdoor green space.

Cocktail Creamery

Don’t be swayed by the name. At Cocktail Creamery in McKinney, the true blue flavors for littles are always on standby — chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry — but the parents get an extra twist on their double scoop. All 99 flavors are spiked with a sweet liqueur to make your ice cream play date more of a happy hour.

Along with cups, cones, and shakes, Cow Tipping Creamery in Frisco specializes in soft serve parfaits called stackers that are all about the mix-ins. Start with a simple vanilla or chocolate base then go wild with layered toppings, or choose one of the suggested blends from the menu. Since this location is at The Star, the kids can play on the plaza field before and after.

This one’s tucked away in Fairview Town Center and, as the name suggests, it serves coffee AND ice cream. If you’re trying to avoid a calorie bomb in the middle of the day, order scoops for the kids and a nitro cold brew for yourself. Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream

Considered the best snow cones in Frisco by many, this little shack is a local institution that’s open seasonally near downtown Frisco. It’d be the perfect spot to hit after a trip to the splash pad at Frisco Commons. Check its Facebook page for open and close times.

Sugar Pine Creamery

Try Sugar Pine Creamery, a soft serve and boba tea spot in Plano. This cute shop keeps customers coming back for more with its rotation of new and exciting flavors every two weeks. Think ube brownie, mangonada, watermelon agua fresca, and more. Of the six, two are dairy-free, and you can always find a classic flavor.

TC Shaved Ice

A retired fire fighter discovered a passion for homemade ice cream and opened Tongue in Cheek ice cream shop. The firefighter’s shop has expanded to three locations in Lewisville, Plano, and Richardson, making locals very happy. There are gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free options, too.

This cute, South Korean dessert cafe offers bingsu, a shaved ice confection with toppings, syrups, condensed milk, and all sorts of delights. Just one is big enough to share between you and a couple kids. Find Wicked Snow in Carrollton.
