As a mother of a soon-to-be teenager, an almost-10 year old, and an almost-5 year old in a few short months, the idea of how fleeting time actually is and how fast everything around us changes is really hitting home. I FEEL that time is fleeting.
I sit back at certain moments and feel as if they have just flown by. How am I going to be a mother to a teenager? I still remember the big-eyed little three year old staring up at me. Now I see a young man who is about my height! I know this is the process of parenting, but it comes way faster than I ever realized.
Like many moms, we do not need to be reminded how time flies and how much we will miss all of this one day. I think we hear this enough. When I am reminded of this, it makes my heart sad. We all wish we could freeze time, go back, and relive or recreate memories with our littles. We know every day is full of ups and downs.
We have a lot of pressure put on us starting from the moment we become a mom, To do this, buy this, visit here, bucket list this, all the crafts, trips, and it is overwhelming.
If you have a 13 year old who has never been to Disney World or Six Flags, it is seriously okay! If you have a 10 year old who has not and will probably not own an American Girl doll, it is okay! If you have a 5 year old who does not go to Pre-K or has not played T-ball yet…it is seriously OKAY, I promise you. We all have wishes and would have’s and could have’s but did not or could not do. Do not let those get you down.
When that feeling comes over you, collect yourself. I know I get emotional and then a wave of mommy guilt takes me over. Remind yourself to STOP. Just STOP. Yesterday was yesterday, today is today, and tomorrow we can only hope for. Live for today. Not everything has to be extravagant. All of us moms wish we had more time, more money, more opportunity. So be it. But what we do have is today.
Time is tricky like that. You just never know. So embrace today, prioritize your life, make memories, laugh and find something special in each day with your children. Remember it is about the small things. Take some special time today to just live in this moment with your littles. They do grow up fast. As they do, love and fully feel every stage along this beautiful journey.
The journey is not easy, change never comes easy but go with it. We cannot turn back time. Remember all the good, all the memories, and roll into this next stage with confidence, love, laughter, and truly treasure everything, no matter their age or how small you think it may be.
So very true!!! Great article❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️😍always!!!
