B-UNDERWATER BUBBLE SHOW at the Eisemann Center: The Magical Intersection of Fantasy & Real Life

I’ve been to many and varied showings of Cirque du Soleil in many cities, but this past week, I was transported, once again, in the awe and amazement of the acrobatics, trapeze, and high-flying whatchamacallits. And this is exactly why when I heard that B-The Underwater Bubble Show was made in the style of Cirque du Soleil, and in a way that the whole family could go, I think I had small heart palpitations.

As a mom immersed in the arts, but also as a couple and family therapist, there is literally nothing I can stress the importance more of than spending quality family time doing something as a creative and magical as seeing a show such as this one.

Kids crave the connection of being with family, even if they don’t tell you. Being together helps children feel safe, connected, and secure. I can think of no better way to spend a relaxed Sunday than immersed in something as magical as Mr. B and his colorful, underwater spectacular!

In this story, Mr. B somehow finds himself transported into the enchanted Bubblelandia. Seahorses, dragon fish, starfish, mermaids, clownfish and others carry Mr. B along his fantastical journey in an underwater mythical world which parallels real life. Using laser technology, snow cannons, bubble machines, theatrical fog, and other optical illusions, this production is more than a play. It’s a place to daydream.

In Bubblelandia, your own fantasies will run wild as you leave behind the stress of your day and immerse in the joy and freedom of this alternative and otherworldly experience.

Mr. B demonstrates how each of us inhabits the ability to linger, listen, savor, explore and marvel at the shapes and colors that cross the imagination. It is the imagination that is the very seat of our soul, and this is why I love this show. As a parent, having the ability to share this magical experience with my kids helps melt my worries away, but even more than that, watching their faces as they are transported to a spellbinding, marvelous place brings me total joy.

Years ago I took my kids to a Cirque du Soleil show, and to be honest, they couldn’t connect to the adult themes. But they can connect to Mr. B and his adventures. This show was made for kids and families in an effort to help them experience the magic of theater, the magic of family time, and the magic of imagination.

Experiences like this can change a person. The question is, has it changed Mr. B? Will it change you?

This is only one of many family-friendly shows the Eisemann regularly brings to our community. Their Family Theatre Series hosts amazing shows all season long. I’ve taken my children to quite a few and they never disappoint. Mr. B is right up our alley, especially with the themes presented.
