Baseball is back, and if you’re thinking about going to a Rangers game, here’s EVERYTHING you need to know.


Concerts in the Park

Flower Mound’s spring concert series features family-friendly bands, food trucks, and vendors. Bring chairs and blankets to relax and absorb the TGIF energy. Concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. Free!


Open Farm Days
Weekends

Cathy’s Critters in Princeton is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. Enjoy petting zoos, pony rides, outback tours, and more. Check the link for “know before you go” information and weather policy. Tickets are $12 – $17—ages two and under free. Cups of feed are $4 each.


Scarborough Renaissance Festival
Through May 27

Head to Waxahachie on Saturdays and Sundays this spring and step back in time. This Ren Faire is family friendly, with games, rides, and shows for everyone. Tons of information and a schedule at the link. Festival hours are 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tickets start at $14.

You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown!

The family-friendly musical, presented by North Texas Performing Arts, visits the beloved world of Charlie Brown and his Peanut Gang pals. The show is appropriate for all ages. Tickets start at $12.


May 4
Cinco de Mayo

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Celina’s Historic Downtown Square. It’ll be a cultural celebration featuring a parade, traditional dances, music, great food, shopping, games, and more. See a schedule of performers at the link. The festivities take place 2:00 – 10:00 p.m. Free!

Frisco StrEATS 

The longest-running food truck festival in Texas features gourmet food from the best food trucks in the metroplex, live musical acts, shopping, craft beer and wine gardens, and countless children’s activities. Bring chairs and blankets for a picnic if you’d like. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Free!

May the 4th Be with You

Downtown Carrollton annual space-themed movie screening features crafts, a 360-degree photo booth, mobile gaming trailer, laser tag, and more. Come dressed as your favorite galactic character for a chance to win a prize in the costume contest. This free event takes place 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Plano AsiaFest 2024

Head to Haggard Park to celebrate the rich cultures of Asia with demonstrations, performances, and vendors from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Kids can enjoy art activities, view and try out various musical instruments, and visit the Children’s Corner. Free!

May 10 – 12
Allen Arts Festival

A weekend of family fun at Watters Creek Village with juried artists — local and regional — showcasing original art in different media categories. It will also have live music, children’s art activities, and all that festival stuff. See link for specifics, including event hours by day. Free!


May 11
Arts Festival in Heritage Park 

This annual Flower Mound festival returns with live performances, art vendors, a community mural, hands-on activities for all ages, and much more. Bring your chairs and blankets and stay all day! 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Free!

Cajun Fest

Celina’s most popular event will be held in Historic Downtown Square. Feast on one of the largest crawfish boils in Texas and enjoy live alligator shows, live music, local vendors, and a large kid’s zone with inflatables and carnival rides. See link to pre-purchase crawfish platters. 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. Free!

Spring Family Fun Series: Mother’s Day Caricatures

Fairview Town Center’s spring series means a different activity or performance each week. Shows last about an hour and are geared toward ages three through 10. See link for details. 10:00 a.m. Free!

Water Safety Fair

This family event is held at Jack Carter Pool in Plano. Activities will help participants prepare for fun and safe aquatic outings. The fun takes place 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Plano Aquatic Center.

One of the most iconic movies of the 80s comes alive on stage in May. It is full of heart with classic hits and new songs for a modern audience of all ages. Tickets start at $12.

Heritage Farmstead Museum has a recurring interactive program designed for ages two to five years old, featuring story time, a craft, animal encounter, wagon ride, and fun on the farm from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Admission is $15 per child and $5 per adult.

Texas Mineral and Fossil Show

Experience the unique beauty of minerals, fossils, and gems from across the world. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Interactive games, shows, prizes, and more. Admission and parking are free.

Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival

This annual festival in Richardson features tons of bands, artists, performers, acrobats, magicians, a marketplace, and the popular WF! Kids section. Tickets start at $15. Kids 12 and under are free.

The Boho Market at TUPPS Brewery

The Boho Market is back and better than ever at its new TUPPS Brewery location in McKinney. Parents sip on local craft beer while shopping one-of-a-kind products from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Kids welcome! Admission is free!

Board Game Meetup

Who doesn’t love getting together with friends to play board games? Families and friends of all ages are invited to John and Judy Gay Library in McKinney on Thursdays from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Make new friends and learn a new game.

Nature Story Time at the Heard Museum

This is the last Nature Story Time event of the year. Young children will enjoy nature-themed stories at 10:00 a.m. Visitors may include puppet friends or live animals. Register online.

Kids Art Exhibition

All kids up to age 16 are welcome to participate in this downtown McKinney art exhibit at 1:00 p.m. There is a sliding scale entrance fee of $10 to $20 per child. Two submissions per child, space is limited. Register online.
