JLCC’s Trinkets to Treasures: The Largest Resale Event in Collin County

This post has been sponsored by Junior League of Collin County. All opinions are 100% my own.

Dione became a member of the Junior League of Collin County (JLCC) because she wanted to volunteer, but she stays year after year “because of the impactful experiences.” She clearly remembers when a young, unsuspecting young high school girl tried on a dress at Trinkets to Treasures and realized for the first time that not only was having a dress of this magnitude and expense possible, but that it was her exact school colors and she’d be able to go to her high school prom. Tears streamed down the teenager’s face, and then from Dione’s face, and she knew she was forever impacted by this cause and this organization. Except, the dress wasn’t expensive at all, because it was a donation to Trinkets to Treasures!

“It’s amazing what can be accomplished when women come together for a community experience.” – Justine S.

The Largest Resale Event in Collin County

I have to tell you about this amazing event. I’ve already marked my calendar for the big day, and you’re going to want to do the same.

Every year the Junior League of Collin County raises thousands of dollars with their Trinkets to Treasures resale event, and the proceeds go right back into the community. Over 900 volunteers give well over 2,500 volunteer hours, making this the largest one-day resale events in all of Collin County.

In its 30th year, this massive fundraiser is held at the Plano Event Center, where the community can buy children’s clothes, toys, women’s clothes, appliances, electronics, furniture and more, all at extremely low prices. Items are both new and gently used and are generously donated by both league volunteers and by local businesses. In fact, each Junior League volunteer commits to donating at least $100 in items for the event.

In addition to hosting this large resale event, over 600 shopping cards, each worth $25, are handed out across the community. That’s $15,000 worth of free merchandise, and as these ladies told me, these items are “priced to move!” In other words, you won’t find a better place to be on April 6th. Once those doors open, there is an enormous amount of merchandise to be found at rock-bottom prices.

Supporting The Entire Collin County Community

This is a must-attend event! The Junior League of Collin County expects hundreds of buyers, in just a matter of hours, where mounds of merchandise on tables will quickly disappear. This truly is the community supporting the community. Money from the event goes directly into organizations like the Collin County Council on Family Violence, Literacy Leaders, My Friend’s House, Hope Works, and more!

The Junior League of Collin County – an organization dedicated not only to promoting volunteerism, but also developing the potential of women and improving the community through action and leadership – welcomes all women into their organization, at any time. Emily told me, “I wanted friendship, but what I got was an eye-opening experience.” This is much more than a volunteer gig; this is a purposeful, committed, impactful event and organization that moves people in small and big ways.

Through Trinkets to Treasures, the Junior League of Collin County is able to embrace and uphold those most important core values: service, respect, and leadership. Trinkets to Treasures is happening April 6, 2019, from 7:45am to 2:00pm at the Plano Event Center. Tickets are $5 at the door. You won’t want to miss it!
