Readers are Leaders!
But my kids hate to read. What is a mom to do? This summer I developed my own reading program.
1. I took away all the electronics.
2. I pay my kids to read.
3. I took my kids to Target and they both picked out what they were going to read towards. (My sweet son has to read 200 books to get his Lego StarWars Ship.)
4. They read and journal what happened first, next and last in the book. My son can’t write so he draws a picture.
So far, so good. My goal is for them to develop a love for reading and if that doesn’t happen at least they haven’t lost reading skill over the summer.
If you aren’t into bribing your kids then you are in luck, I included a list of local and national reading programs below. Incentives work for my kids and we plan on joining these to win prizes!
