Critter Club is back and better than ever! Fairview Town Center’s Critter Club is a FREE event that gives kids the chance to get up close and personal with different kinds of animals. It runs every Saturday at The Park at FTC from September through the end of October. Kids get to learn about a different animal each week, then get to meet and take pictures with the animal. Kids can even get their faces painted with the animal of the week!
My kids and I got to learn about honeybees at one of the recent Critter Club events. A beekeeper from Rescue Bee Ranch told us all about bees, how important they are in our world, and what to do if you see a swarm of bees (hint: leave them alone and call a professional beekeeper!).
Kids get a chance to ask questions at the end of the presentation. My son wanted to know how many bees they’ve rescued at Rescue Bee Ranch. The answer was at least several hundred thousand!
After the Q&A, children can get their face painted, go up on stage one-by-one to meet the animal(s), and color on some fun worksheets.
Seeing the bees up close was exciting, and we also got to try on beekeeping hats to get a preview of what it’s like to be a beekeeper.
The face painting was fairly quick and easy, and it was my youngest son’s favorite part of the event. My kids had an amazing time and didn’t stop talking about what they learned about bees the rest of the day!
The Park at Fairview Town Center can be found in the green space and stage in front of Cafe Gecko. You’ll want to bring a chair or a blanket to sit on during the event. Guests are asked not to bring food because it can distract the animals.
Social distancing is encouraged, and they ask everyone to wear a mask when lining up to meet the animal or get their face painted. Guests also have a chance to win prizes at the event (including Allen Americans tickets!).
Check out the schedule of upcoming Critter Club events and don’t miss this amazing opportunity to have your children meet some truly unique animals. Head to The Park at Fairview Town Center one of these Saturdays to add some fun to your weekend that your kids won’t forget!
