Have you ever wondered if your child is getting lost in the mix? If you’re anything like me, I’ve often worried that my children aren’t truly seen and known in their class of 20+ elementary-school kids. New Hope Christian Academy wants to alleviate that fear.
New Hope places high value on individualized instruction, biblical principles, and experiential learning. So what does that actually mean to you as a parent? It means a more personalized, hands-on learning experience for your child.
Just three years old and growing rapidly, New Hope Christian Academy enrolls families with children three months of age through sixth grade. Infants through Pre-K attend “The Nest,” and Kindergarten through sixth grade attend the Academy. Currently, New Hope serves approximately 80 students and continues to see growth year after year.
As a former teacher myself, a few things stood out to me as incredibly unique and notable about this school.
SMALLER CLASSES
New Hope maintains a 10:1 teacher-to-student ratio across all grade levels. Can you imagine the personalized experience a child can receive with such a small class size? When I taught middle school, I had upwards of 30 children coming in and out of my room every single class period. No matter how hard I tried, individualized instruction was just not always a possibility with class sizes like that. The experience would’ve been completely different with 10. I cannot imagine the gift this would be for both student and teacher.
HANDS-ON LEARNING
Because of their unique location in downtown Plano, students are able to utilize the local park and local businesses to enrich their learning experiences. Whether it’s a cooking demonstration that includes the local butcher shop or enjoying story time at the nearby Interurban Railway Museum, their location lends itself to lots of real-world connections that are invaluable to the learning experience.
DIVERSITY
As I toured the school and saw many classes in action, I was struck by the rich diversity of the student body here. In addition to racial diversity, I witnessed several children thriving who had special needs or physical limitations. As a mom, it is important to me that my children experience diversity in their neighborhoods and schools. I loved seeing it here.
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES
In addition to a strong academic curriculum, the value of a Christian-based education was evident around every corner. From scripture-based bulletin boards to open Bibles left on children’s desks, it was clear that the root of everything they do is from God’s teaching.
My biggest takeaway after visiting New Hope Christian Academy is this – they truly want every child to be loved and to reach their highest potential.
