Guide to The Star in Frisco

Luckily, I live just a few miles from one of Frisco’s hottest areas, The Star. My family and I are there constantly, but so many people I talk to don’t even know that all of The Star’s great dining, shops, and businesses exist. Yes, most people know The Star in Frisco houses the Cowboys’ World Headquarters and the Cowboys’ state-of-the-art training facility, The Ford Center. There’s even an exclusive, private social club and restaurant called The Cowboys Club, available to members only. But since the area is set back a quarter mile from the Tollway, unless you actually turn in, you may miss everything that this hip area has to offer. Think of it like a mini Legacy West…just a mile or so north of Legacy West. They don’t call it the 5 Billion Dollar Mile for nothing!

My husband and I first discovered The Star in Frisco when we decided to check out Cowboys Fit, the luxe 60,000-square-foot gym attached to both the Cowboys’ corporate office buildings and the training facility. It’s exactly what you might expect from Jerry Jones and the Cowboys brand: new, clean, all the bells and whistles, cutting-edge equipment, and cheekily named group fitness classes such as Tight End (an intense glutes and thigh-toning class) and America’s Team Training (a total body circuit class). And yes, since the famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders work out and train here, the gym is consistently chock full of pretty young things (both girls AND guys), but not to worry, there are always plenty of normal moms and businesspeople there of all ages and fitness levels there, too!

Beyond all that, though, there’s what’s known as The Star District, the huge retail area just south of the Ford Center.

Restaurants at The Star in Frisco

Neighborhood Services

Like the other Dallas locations, The Star’s Neighborhood Services has a cozy, friendly atmosphere and downright delicious, upscale comfort food. It’s located at the bottom of the Omni Hotel and directly across from the Ford Center, i.e., super easy to access with complimentary valet. While each NS location has a slightly different menu, you can’t go wrong with the Butcher’s Meatballs in the Original Voodoo Sauce…or really ANYTHING on the menu that includes the Voodoo Sauce.

Cane Rosso

Known for its authentic, wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, Cane Rosso is a must try. Each pizza is cooked in less than 90 seconds at 900 degrees in a huge, open-faced oven. If you get there before 6pm, take advantage of the weekday Happy Hour to get seriously discounted food and drinks. Do yourself a favor and order the hugely popular “off-menu” pizzas for a sweet and spicy mix that will rock your face off.

Dee Lincoln Prime

Next time you’re feeling fancy, try Dee Lincoln Prime for a fine dining experience offering prime steaks, fresh seafood, and an in-house sushi bar. With a globally inspired wine list and full “tequila library,” there’s something for everyone. The service is always great and as my interior designer friend pointed out to me, the bathrooms are beautiful, which is always a plus.

Tupelo Honey

Tupelo Honey is one of my family’s faves at The Star. Originating in the Carolinas, Tupelo Honey features scratch-made Southern cooking that changes seasonally. The interior is bright, fresh, and cute as a button, and the airy patio features big, comfy outdoor padded booths around large tables. Run, don’t walk, to try the Cathead Biscuits, served with house-made blueberry jam and whipped butter. The craft cocktails are all pretty darn good, too, including the 99% Texan Vodka Tonic and the Pomegranate-Ginger Mule.

The Common Table

Any place that serves table-side S’mores for Two is alright in my book. Check out The Common Table for their constantly rotating selection of craft beers on tap, and fab comfort food (try the Herb-Roasted Chicken Pot Pie).

Check out LOTS of other restaurants at The Star here.

Beyond the gym and the great food options, The Star in Frisco has lots of great shopping.

Shopping at The Star in Frisco

Charlotte Jones Collection

Named after Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President & Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones Anderson (Jerry’s daughter), this luxury retail boutique is chock full of meticulously curated designer gear for men, women, and children, including some exclusively made items from the likes of Kendra Scott, Peter Millar, and Paige Denim. Charlotte Jones Collection is located in the lobby of the Omni Frisco Hotel.

Also check out Flea Style, The Lincoln Experience Center, Lucchese at The Star, Luxe Eyewear, and Nike at The Star.

And if all that is not enough, you can also get a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader-worthy blowout at the luxe Cherry Blow Dry Bar, or visit the official salon of the DCC, Tangerine Salon.

Sarah Humphrey
Sarah is a midwestern girl (Illinois) turned full on southerner after moving to Dallas at 19 to follow her older sister, Whitney, and get out of all that nasty, cold weather! Sarah has been married for 11 years to Taylor, a total stud, and together they have a super ornery 6 year old girl, Lila, and 2 precious puppies, Hank and Chuck. Sarah lives in Frisco, but works in Dallas (which makes for a LOT of time spent on the Dallas North Tollway) as a medical esthetician at Bella MD Laser Vein and Aesthetic Center (www.bellamd.com). She is passionate about everything beauty and health related from laser aesthetics, injectibles, and cosmetic services, to the latest trends in makeup, hair, fitness and fashion! Although most days you'll find her in scrubs (work) or yoga pants and workout gear (maybe or maybe not for ACTUAL exercise), she LOVES any excuse to get all dolled up. Other obsessions include: binge-watching tv, puppy kisses, traveling and travel planning, and BLUSH.
