Like so many things in 2020, the cherished tradition of shopping the ‘Neath the Wreath holiday gift market is going virtual. This year, the Junior League of Collin County‘s annual fundraiser is inviting shoppers to support and shop “Home for the Holidays” from the comfort of our pajamas on the couch. While it’s tempting to be sad about missing a girls’ night out, I, for one, am thrilled.
There are some serious perks to this option, ladies. No need to pay a babysitter. (Hello, extra shopping money!) No crowds or long lines. No impatient husbands asking if we really need another spinach dip mix. (We do.) And we can support small businesses that need us more than ever, support programs that empower the vulnerable in our own community, and cross some gifts off our list all at the same time. That’s a win-win-win in my book!
The Details
This year’s event will run November 12 – 15 primarily through the ‘Neath the Wreath app. This app can be downloaded free through the Apple store or on Google Play. Participants will be able to shop from 100+ small businesses from the safety of their home. If shopping is not your thing, consider participating in the silent auction happening November 13-14 or grab your entry NOW to this year’s raffle.
Give Back to Your Community
Since there are no tickets to buy this year, the Junior League of Collin County is asking participants to donate $15 per shopper (the cost of a ticket) to support their work. This year’s unfortunate events have caused a major upswing in domestic violence, food insecurity, and unemployment, which means it’s more important than ever to financially contribute to local programs supported by the Junior League. Some of these programs include: community grants to non-profits, supplying volunteers for community projects, and supporting emergency needs for agencies that serve the homeless, foster families, and more in Collin County.
