10 Ways to Save Family Memories

Are you looking for ways to preserve special family memories? Here are some creative ideas to inspire you!

  1. Photo Books – There are a variety of online photo storage companies and apps that allow you to make quick photo books.  Many have artwork and templates available to help with the creative process. You can lay the books out on a coffee table for family and friends to look through, or create a collection on a bookshelf.
  2. Email Address – Create an email address specifically for your child and send memories as they happen. This also allows for portable access to your memories and tools for easy searching.
  3. Quote Book – Write down all the funny and weird things your children or spouse say in a book.  A fun family activity is reading through the book for some good laughs, especially once they’re a bit older.
  4. Letters – Compile a notebook of old letters written by ancestors in chronological order. You can make copies of them to print a book (use the online photo book company or app) to give as a gift to family.
  5. Memento Box – Buy a storage box from a craft store for cards, pictures, and notes.  There are also organized storage cases for your children’s artwork, which is a great way to wrangle all the masterpieces your kids come home with!
  6. Shadow Box – This is an affordable way to put your memories on display. You can showcase baptismal gowns, birth announcements, or handprints and footprints.
  7. Blog – Create a blog of your children’s milestones and cute things they do everyday to keep family and friends updated on your daily happenings.
  8. Photo Night Light – A photo night light can be a neat way to display family photos and keep the memories alive during the night.
  9. Home Videos – Make your own home videos with pictures using software to crop the photos and add music.  They’re perfect for sharing with family and friends, or to use at special events.
  10. Memory Quilt – Make a quilt using T-shirts from school, sports or special occasions to keep a lifetime of memories. You can display it on a bed or hang it on the wall.
