Well, hello, old friend. We meet again.
Have I told you lately how much I love you? How I quite literally can’t live without you? How I don’t know how I ever walked through a single day without you in it? Because I need you to know just how much I value our relationship.
Remember when we met? It was back in college after a few too many all-nighters in the library. I had no idea the day I met you what kind of relationship we’d develop over the last two decades. You became a staple in my life that I have cherished ever since.
You’re the first thing I run to when my feet hit the floor in the morning, and the last thing I check on before I go to sleep.
When I’m lacking in motivation or energy for the day ahead, you’re the one I seek. You never disappoint me.
You’ve seen me through so many phases of my life. Whether it was my first job, my first time being a mom, or overcoming some nasty jet lag, you’ve always come through. You’ve always got my back.
Sure, we’ve had our differences. There have been moments where the mere sight or smell of you incited nausea or disgust. But we moved past it. Always. No matter our temporary differences, we always found our way back to each other.
- When I need just a little bit of comfort because home school is turning me grey, you’re there.
- When I need a warm hug after the 79th tantrum of the day, I can always count on you.
- When I need a little kick in the pants to get moving on my goals, you do that for me.
You never rush me, but rather encourage me to slow down, connect, and savor the quiet moments I have with you and you alone.
So, thank you, my beloved coffee, for being all a mom ever needed and more. Tomorrow (and every day), on National Coffee Day, I salute you in all your warm, comforting, delicious glory. Thanks for being you.
