The Dallas Zoo has a new experience you can add on to regular admission tickets this spring: Dino Safari is a guided tram adventure billed as “a Jurassic journey of prehistoric proportions.” Is it cool? Is it fun for kids? Sarah Spencer put on her field reporter hat and wrote up a one-minute review of everything you need to know before buying a Dino Safari Pass:
We took our four-year-old to the Dallas Zoo this week and stopped by the new Dino Safari! Is it worth the cost? Is it a fun, movie-like experience?
❌ It’s not a movie-themed experience.
❌ It’s not a thrill ride (which also means it wasn’t terribly scary for younger kids).
❌ It’s not a very time-consuming attraction (15–30 min total), which was fine for us because there is so much else to do at the zoo.
🦖It IS a fun dino experience with a large variety of dinosaurs to see!
🦖It’s a fun photo op!
🦖It’s educational—we learned a lot of cool dino facts and about conservation efforts.
💰Tickets are $6 for non-members and $4 for members. (The Dallas Zoo is one of the cheaper family memberships in DFW, by the way, and beyond worth it for us!)
Honestly, I was underwhelmed BUT every kid on our tram (with the exception of one older teen brother) thought it was amazing.🤩
We’ll definitely go back again.
So, is it worth it for you?
If your kids love animals/dinosaurs, you want a reprieve from walking/carrying everything, and you’re not expecting the big movie Jurassic experience—totally worth it.
