Being a mom is the most demanding, exhausting, and difficult job in the world. There is always someone that needs you, somewhere to be, and something that’s not getting done. Getting caught up in this whirlwind of motherhood can make it easy to lose sight of all we have to be thankful for. Given the time of year, I wanted to remind myself of the reasons why I’m thankful to be a mom.
I Get Cuddles, Hugs, and Kisses Whenever I Want
When my kids are just so irresistibly cute, or I get so consumed with love for them that I have to give them affection at that very moment, they are always there with open arms (literally). I love loving on my littles and hope they never get tired of it, because I know I never will!
I Help Shape Them Into the People They Will Become
Now this is a big one, packed with responsibility for us moms, but I am so thankful that I get the opportunity to help shape my kids into adults ready to function in this world. I teach them to make good decisions, how to treat others, to maintain a healthy lifestyle, enrich their minds, and to always try their hardest. It’s not an easy task, but occasionally I get glimpses that it’s working and that’s all the motivation I need.
I’m the One They Run To When They’re Hurt
When my child is physically hurt, someone has hurt their feelings, or they’re trying to navigate a difficult situation they’ve never encountered before, I’m the one they come to. I hate to see my children sad, but love being the person that makes them feel better.
I Get To Make the Holidays Special For Them
Do you know the one thing that’s more fun than being a kid on a holiday? Being the parent that makes said holiday so wonderful for the kid! I love creating holiday memories for my children and seeing the joy it brings them.
I Experience It All With a Loving Husband and Incredible Dad
Sometimes being a mom seems like it’s just too much to handle. If one more thing goes wrong, we might break into a million pieces. In these moments I am even more thankful for my loving, faithful, and helpful husband who also happens to be an incredible dad.
I Get To Play Chauffeur
Ok, I know some of you are wondering how I could possibly be thankful for having to drive my kids all around town. But I love taking them to their games, birthday parties, doctor appointments, play dates, and everything in between. Knowing that I’m taking them somewhere they’ll enjoy or that will enrich their lives in some way makes me happy. Bonus if we have a great conversation on the way or jam to some music with the windows down. Extra bonus if they have a buddy in the car and I can eavesdrop on their sweet conversations in their cute little voices.
I Have Awesome Mom Friends
Without my children, I wouldn’t have the awesome mom friends that I do. It’s great to have a group of women in my life that understand what I’m going through and that I can vent about the hard days with and celebrate the good ones with. And let’s not forget about the cherished MNO’s! I so look forward to these nights where I can relax, recharge, and cut loose with my fellow moms.
I Get To Feel All the Proud Mommy Moments
Now this one is my favorite. Nothing makes me have to catch my breath more than a moment when my children have made me proud. Whether they’ve made a good choice without guidance, hurdled an obstacle they’ve been working on, or accomplished something that makes them jump with joy, I am so thankful I get to witness these proud mom moments.
Being a mom can sometimes feel like a thankless job, but we have so much to be thankful for. What about being a mom makes you thankful?
