Never Wait in the ER Again

As a mom of a two-year-old who is terrified of any kind of medical professional, the last thing I want to do is take her to the emergency room. At the same time, I know life is unpredictable and trips to the ER are sometimes necessary. I want my trip to the emergency room to give us the answers we need in the quickest way possible. Moms don’t have time for emergencies. This is where The Colony ER Hospital comes in.

The Colony ER Hospital offers little-to-no-wait for their services, which include inpatient care, outpatient labs, and imaging for adults and children. They are open 24/7 and accept all major insurance companies, as well as workers’ compensation. Contact the hospital directly for specific coverage details. They often participate in community outreach programs and events and have even hosted free CPR classes in the past. To find out when the next free class is, click here.

When my daughter and I walked in, we were immediately greeted by two friendly staff members and directed toward the drinks and snacks that are set up in the waiting area. I don’t know how, but my kid immediately realized we were “at the doctor” and became slightly nervous. I was so glad we didn’t add to her nerves by walking into a room full of people waiting ahead of us. She held her juice box with one hand and had a death-grip on me with the other. She cried for the first 20 minutes of MY dentist appointment the week before, so this was already an improvement. When you walk in, it doesn’t look like a hospital. Everything is light and bright, so this helped her quite a bit.

We were shown each of the different ER rooms and met some of the ER staff members. Everyone was kind and proceeded with caution when talking to Addison. She hid behind me for a few minutes until the staff member from the front desk found us and handed Addison a small stuffed bear. She finally started talking when we saw the pediatric room. Their pediatric room is so cool! It offers floor-to-ceiling murals of plants and animals, and is full of stuffed animals and toys. Addison popped out from behind me to tell me, “Look, Mommy! There’s a giraffe! And a tiger!” At this point, we had been inside the building for less than seven minutes, so to see her already at ease was a huge relief.

After seeing the different machines for x-rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds, we spoke with more staff members and Addison informed me she did not want to leave. Major win in my book! My husband was out of town the next four days, so it put my mind at ease to know that if there WAS a medical emergency, Addison and I could visit The Colony ER Hospital and be seen right away by a staff that treats us like family.
