With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, you may be looking for a quick, convenient, and easy romantic getaway without going too far. Bed and breakfasts are always a charming and romantic choice, so here’s a quick guide to five different Collin County bed and breakfasts!
The Kerr Inn—Celina
Located in Celina, Texas, this bed and breakfast is the perfect way to enjoy a lovely, small town experience. There are also several wineries located in Celina, so you can easily create your own winery tour! Eden Hill, Wales Manor, Caudalie Crest…just to name a few! Plus, you’re close to a few great golf courses as well.
Rates are around $90-$100 per night, and you can book easily from their website.
For frequent guests, if you stay six nights, the seventh night is free! Perfect if you want to really take a break from it all and escape for an entire week.
Durning House Bed & Breakfast—Van Alstyne
The Durning House in Van Alstyne is owned by Brenda Hix and Sherry Heath. This B&B is really unique with two different accommodation options: an adorable two-bedroom Victorian home (The Main House) or a quaint private cottage (The Sunday House). They’re also very helpful in accommodating your special occasions, arranging for flowers or massages, and paying close attention to dietary needs!
The Restaurant is open for lunch Tuesday-Friday 11:00am-2:00pm, while serving dinner to the community on the first Saturday of every month.
For reservations, you can give them a call at 903-482-5188 or fill out the form on their website.
Dowell House Bed & Breakfast—McKinney
Just a short walk from Chestnut Square Historic Village in McKinney is the Dowell House. This is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen, run by Fred and Diane. A big, blue classic 1870’s home with two traditional rooms (and private bathrooms). One of the rooms has a fireplace and a whirlpool tub, while the other has a private sun deck and hot tub.
Your full breakfast will be served in the formal dining room, and you can also enjoy the home’s sunroom and porch! I did not find a way to book online at this time, so give them a call at 972-562-2456 to inquire about reservations!
Fun Fact: much of the original “Benji” movie was filmed there!
Corinthian Bed & Breakfast—Dallas
Ok, so I am cheating just a little bit on this one since it’s technically located in our lovely neighboring Dallas County.
I just couldn’t leave this one out! This location has a rich history, located in Dallas, close to Deep Ellum and Downtown. It offers several different suite options, as well as several common areas to relax and unwind. The Innkeeper is ready to take care of everything for you: limo services, massages, flowers, dinner reservations, spa visits, even dry cleaning! They will even let you know what is going on around town during your stay, as well.
It was also listed as one of “Dallas’ Most Romantic Hotels” by USA Today!
Rates range from $150-$220 per night, and they have an availability calendar on their website.
McKinney Bed & Breakfast—McKinney
I saved the best for last. This beautiful B&B is run by Vicki and Wayne Hill, where breakfast is served when you want it and it’s going to be one of the best breakfasts you’ve ever eaten. They will make sure to make your stay as special and unique as you’d like, and will talk to you upon arrival to make sure they meet your needs. This Collin County bed and breakfast has been listed in the Top 12 B&Bs in the USA, where they are “big on southern hospitality with a giant dose of privacy!”
They also request all guests be over the age of 12, and no pets are allowed. Each room has a private bathroom, and it’s a quick 7-10 minute walk to the McKinney downtown square.
Rates range from $189-$225 per night, and their online reservation system is a breeze to navigate.
