Dragons Eat Tacos and Other Stories, at the Eisemann

This post was sponsored by The Eisemann Center. However, all opinions are 100% my own.

I can’t tell you the joy that washes over me when I think of going to a show at the Eisemann Center. My kids and I have been multiple times for various shows, and we’ve never been disappointed. Here’s an experiment: Stop what you’re doing, turn to your child and say, “Hey, do you want to go see Dragons Love Tacos?” Seriously, you’ll get the best giggles out of your children. And that’s before they’ve even seen the show! They’ll want to go, and I think you’ll want to take them, because it is an easy, cost-effective way to bond with your child and spark their imaginations.

This, and other funny, fun, and playful stories, are the reason we love going to the Eisemann Center. In the past, we’ve seen Junie B. Jones, about the a six-year old girl and her woes of Kindergarten and beyond. We’ve seen Strega Nona, about the old lady who made pasta that flooded the whole town. My daughters even experienced The Nutcracker at the Eisemann Center years ago, which was a real treat.

This season, there are some seriously sweet and fun shows, like Dragons Love Tacos and Other Stories. And since the Eisemann Center is in our own backyard, there is no better way to spend time with kids laughing while getting immersed in some culture while you’re at it. It gets them away from the video games, off of their phones, and into a world of creative artistry. Yes, please!

Not only does the Eisemann have a great children’s theatre series, they also have community education and outreach programs which will help children grow their own imaginations. When kids immerse themselves in someone else’s world, they grow deeper skills, like perspective-taking, empathy, and understanding. Through the education programs, children are exposed to the performing arts where teamwork, self-esteem, and creativity are celebrated. With workshops by talented artists like The Second City Touring Company and the cast of Childsplay, children can not only see a show, they will begin to feel what it’s like to be a part of the show. If you’ve ever wanted to experience theater, I cannot recommend Eisemann Center enough.

The Family Theatre Series shows begins Sunday, January 20, at 2:30pm, starting with dragons eating tacos, apparently, and continues with The Boy Who Would be Captain Hook, The Underwater Bubble Show, and so much more!
