I don’t know about you, but my toddler keeps me super busy, like all the time!!!
He’s so smart and active that I feel like we can’t keep doing the same ole’ things over and over and over again.
While this summer is jam-packed with traveling and prepping for a baby brother, I still want to make time for creative things to do with him, especially during our lazy days at home.
I came across this craft, and thought it looked like fun, so I went on a whim (and Amazon, of course) to get all of the supplies for nerf gun water painting.

Nerf Gun Water Painting
It’s simple, affordable, and the kids will have a blast. The nerf guns were the most expensive supply. You can probably use any type of water gun, but these were recommended to me for multiple uses and better quality. Plus, they are easy to clean.
Here’s what you need:
- Liquid watercolor paint
- Nerf Super Soaker
- Extra large watercolor paper
- Hammer and nail
- Art easel (optional)
Instructions:
1. Post your paper wherever you want. I used a hammer and nail to post the paper to a tree in our backyard. You could also prop the paper up on an art easel that you don’t mind getting dirty.
I definitely recommend keeping this craft outdoors due to the mess, even though it’s watercolor and washable.
2. Put 5 – 6 drops of liquid watercolor into the water gun, and fill the rest with water.
3. Let the kids fire away!!! At the watercolor paper, specifically.

We went through a few different colors, and Luc kept wanting to race me to see who could finish their gun first!
It was one of those summer days I will remember for a while and get to enjoy over and over again once I hang his artwork in the playroom!
Boy, was it fun!! Here are our final masterpieces:
Luc had a blast, it was fun for me to watch, and I even have keepsakes from it.
In fact it was so fun and memorable that I am going to plan a playdate with our friends, and let the boys go wild out there!
I’d love to see yours!! Share it in the comments below, or tag us on Instagram at @CollinCountyMoms!
